Daniel W. Cathell

Chief Executive Officer


As CEO, Daniel Cathell brings to Midas Companies over 15 years of domestic and international strategic business operations and finance experience across multiple industries. Prior to becoming CEO, Daniel served as the company’s CFO where he oversaw the development of strategic finance and operations during the company’s recent critical growth and expansion path.


An extensive background in finance. Daniel’s experience includes over $15 billion in total transaction value as well as the development of strategic finance and operational plans for multinational corporations in the construction, retail, and oil and gas industries. Mr. Cathell also has a wealth of international experience throughout Europe and Asia. This includes acquisitions and  negotiations for rare earth in China, as well as creating a $2 billion global integration plan that created over $200 million in total value. He has also devised proven strategic operational plans in the oil and gas well construction industry that reduced commodity risk by maintaining flexibility throughout an organization.


Key areas of expertise for Mr. Cathell include increased asset utilization, redundancy reduction, negotiating lower prices for key raw materials, and increased efficiencies in sales and operations planning. This has enabled Mr. Cathell to heighten Midas Companies’ respective accounting and finance teams current capabilities and forecast needs for future growth. Prior to joining Midas in 2014, Mr. Cathell worked for Home Depot, WR Grace, and Synagro, a Carlyle Group Company.


Mr. Cathell holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and an MBA in finance from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park. He is an active member of multiple organizations, including the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group and the Northern Virginia Technology Council. He currently resides in the Washington, D.C., suburbs with his wife and son.



Matt Moser

Chief Operating Officer


As Vice President & General Manager of Midas Utilities, Mr. Moser is no stranger to the construction industry. He began his career in 1996, working for a civil engineering firm that specialized in geotechnical and structural engineering. The company focused on the observation, testing, and inspection of mass grading at utility construction sites. Matt’s area of expertise was associated with geotechnical engineering, and, more specifically, exploratory drilling and lab testing as part of the customer’s due diligence reporting process prior to purchasing and developing prospective land. Mr. Moser also played a key role in job site testing and inspection during the construction phase of development.


In 2001, Mr. Moser was hired by a national homebuilder to be their Land Development Project Manager. In this role, he was responsible for creating land development construction budgets—from initial acquisition and construction completion phases to bond closeout. Mr. Moser was also involved in the Civil Engineering design of proposed developments that included mass grading, and both wet and dry utility design. During his tenure, Mr. Moser was responsible for over $100 million in land development procurement and site management budgets.


In 2013, Mr. Moser joined Midas Utilities to help manage the company’s growth and ongoing expansion. His broad range of utility engineering, construction, budgeting and management experience makes him best-suited to oversee the company’s day-to-day operations and provide knowledge-based solutions to Midas's growing list of customers.



Hank Norris

Vice President, Operations


As VP of Operations for The Midas Companies. Mr. Norris has nearly 25 years of experience in the trenchless industry. His professional career has seen him perform work throughout the east coast for industrial and municipal clients as both a team member and divisional head in middle market and national companies. Some of his experience includes inspection of over 15 million linear feet of sewer and storm drain pipes, over 200,000 laterals, cleaning of over 2 million linear feet of pipe, as well as inspection and repair of over 50,000 manholes. Hank has utilized a variety of products and strategic partners resulting in highly profitable work. His experience working for large national players such as Carylon has provided Hank with the necessary training to develop business while maintaining divisional P&L responsibility. In his two year at Midas, he has been able to develop a new division that now generates nearly $10MM in annual revenue.



Chris Englebrake

General Manager, Flow Control


Chris is the General Manager of The Midas Companies Flow Control division. He has nearly 10 years of experience in all phases of underground utility construction, including design, estimating and project management. Since graduating from McDaniel College, Chris has served as a project and general manager for The Midas Companies after being charged with business development for a staffing firm and ADP for six years. His projects include a bypass with 40,000 feet of 12” and 18” piping, one of the largest environmentally restricted bypasses in the world as well as work in some of the harshest environments throughout Boston and northern New York. These systems required intense design to ensure an environmental spill did not occur due to freezing conditions. Chris currently has full P&L responsibility for the nearly $9MM bypass division and includes work for both municipal and industrial asset owners. Chris’ division is directly partnered with United Rentals and is imperative in the go forward growth of The Midas Companies.



David Ventresca

Special Advisor


David has spent nearly 40 years years in the site utilities and municipal infrastructure construction industry. Before Midas Companies expansion, he started working for Midas Utilities while still in high school and became a full time employee, after graduating from college in 1986. Throughout the years David played a key roll in the company’s growth and success.  In 2009, he was promoted the company's President. Looking to expand the company’s service offerings, David added trenchless pipeline rehabilitation solutions to complement Midas’ core utilities business. Since then, the company has more than tripled its revenue. True to Midas’ hands-on and highly personalized approach to customer service, David remains close to the ground and actively serves as a key advisor to the Midas Companies management team.
